Our offer > Oxodegradable additives

Oxo-degradation is a process of decomposition of a material in the natural environment, without the involvement of microorganisms, controlled by the external factors of light, oxygen and temperature. Oxo-degradable additives cause a material used in a finished product to decompose faster.

The advantage of using such an additive is that this type of packaging degrades faster than packaging made of pure polyethylene. The oxo-degradation process involves photodegradation (UV radiation) and oxidation. The final stage of the process is the decomposition of the powder remaining in the earth into carbon dioxide and water. EKOGRANULAT offers an additive which causes oxo-degradation of PP, LDPE, HDPE, PS and ABS.

The additive is used in the production of all types of injection moulded products, foils and bottles. The dosage is approximately 1%. The oxo-degradable additive is non-toxic and does not contain heavy metals. The additive can be used with any kind of plastic. It is widely used in the production of environment-friendly plastic bags made of HDPE and LDPE, plastic plates and cups, bottles, garden foils and rubbish sacks.

Environment-friendly bags retain all the advantages of traditional plastic products – they are strong, durable and flexible, and can be safely used for carrying and storing food. Plastic bags with TDPA additive decompose in the natural environment in a period of 18–24 months.
